The main purpose of My Official Cornmeal Hoecakes Bread and Accompaniments Cookbook of Seminole County Before the Statehood of Oklahoma is to illustrate the food ways of the early Seminole Freedmen from Florida and those living in Oklahoma territory many years before statehood. Also, the cookbook provides a mechanism to incorporate black history and the Seminole Indian history that had not been made popular.
