The Countess of Rockingham is furious when Helen is delivered from the workhouse as the orphan daughter of the Earl's disgraced older brother. Forced by her husband to give Helen a home, she is raised without love or affection and barely tolerated by her aunt and cousin.

With a heavy heart, Helen leaves for Whitby, knowing that James will never forgive her for deserting him, this happened to him once before. The only bright spot is that her career as a writer is successful. However, when James finds her in Whitby, he has news which will change their lives forever. Could it be that Miss Nobody can finally find happiness?
