Dina is a deaf dinosaur whose parents won't let her learn sign language. She runs away and in the woods she befriends an owl, a mole, and a chipmunk who help her to feel better about the situation. The story has a happy ending as the parents find Dina and change their mind about sign language. The author, Carole Addabbo, has been deaf since birth. The illustrations are original detailed and elaborate paintings by Valentine.
