In 1812 Amanda Brewster wants to breed sheep and find a husband but society has strict rules about being a lady and disapproves. The one man who touches Amanda's heart, Thomas Morgan, rejects her because Amanda's father once cheated him.  Amanda finds comfort with the ambitious Senator Weston who needs her dowry.
