The Gallo brothers, Larry and Joey, were enforcers for the old Joseph Profaci crime family. In 1960 a rift between Profaci and Gallo erupted over the issue of territory promised by Profaci. By 1961 this break had erupted into total war between the two factions. My e-book looks at the struggle between Profaci and Gallo during this especially violent time. One night in October 1961 the NYPD rescued Larry Gallo from almost certain death at the Sahara Lounge in Brooklyn. The cops just happened by the club just as Carmine Persico was garroting Gallo. Numerous incidents followed, including the kidnapping of a number of Profaci loyalists.
