First Published in 1998. Since the original appearance of this thesis there have been enormous changes in phonology. The phrase 'constraint-based phonology' has almost universal coverage now, it would seem. This study is not solely about constraint-based phonology, as the title of the book indicates. The investigation of autosegmental representation is central also.
