Mount Afurika is a book of short stories and poems which subtly narrate the colonization of Africa, some of the struggles and challenges the African people are facing in the post-independence era. The book is inspired by the political disillusionment which followed soon after independence, the suppression of human rights and freedoms, specifically in Zimbabwe. The book also talks about contemporary issues like love, crime and traditional beliefs. These themes have been explored using some African oral literature genres like folk tale, songs and proverbs together with the traditional short story and poetry genres.
