Steven Baker is back with his latest historical saga. Those Splendid Memories charts the whirlwind life stories of Anatole and Mariska after they are left orphaned as young children. During the pogroms in Russia in the year of 1892, Viktor and Ekaterina Luchenya decide to seek a new life abroad, free of persecution. They take their young children, Anatole and Mariska to Yorkshire before sailing across to New York. A tragic accident leaves Anatole and Mariska alone – but their lives are just beginning.

From the orphanage, Anatole and Mariska supplement their income by singing on the streets, which then takes an astonishing turn as they form a dancing act and tour in a Vaudeville show across the USA. The story follows Anatole and Mariska's later life as they travel across the world, experiencing different cultures and jobs, and overcoming many trials and tribulations. This is a gripping read, jam-packed with action and adventure.
