Wedding consultants provide clients with information about customs, rituals, and etiquette, both those that are traditional and those that are new and fashionable variations on the themes, as well as those that were once chic but are now hopelessly passé. Studying up on traditions can be as easy as looking up "weddings" in an encyclopedia or Wikipedia. Wedding magazines, which are geared exclusively toward brides, but also contain information pertinent to couples – are a good source for news of current trends. It might be fun to see if you can track down a decades-old book on weddings in your library to see what used to be essential. You could even end up resurrecting some of these "retro" ideas and themes in your own practice.
