Duck in a Cup

Written by Susan Spelic and Illustrated by Cassandra Storm D.

Duchess is a proud duck who loves her seven little ducklings. They all waddle up the street to visit Granny. What happens when the littlest duckling goes missing? Will they find the duckling?

'Duck in a Cup' has language that helps to teach the short 'u' sound as in the words; 'Duck, ducklings, up, cup, Mum and us.'

'Duck in a Cup' is an engaging narrative story, an ideal first chapter book for emergent readers. Written for children who use the strategy of decoding, when they see an unknown word, and experiment using all 44 phonemes, the graphic novel features support comprehension, phrasing and fluency while engaging reluctant readers.

This book contains many decodable words (CVCs) but uses some more complex phonemes. As a semi-decodable book, it has been formatted to be Dyslexic-friendly and uses the Dyslexie typeface.
