"I fell in love through the lens of her letters. I slowly gained strength from the magic in the ink..."

William has been in hospital for a long time. His daily routine involves staring at the ceiling, watching the little glowing lights on the machine beside his bed, and staring at the ceiling again. This all changes one day when the nurse delivers him a letter from a girl named Hope.

As William reads of Hope's experiences travelling around the world he longs for the next letter and finds himself falling in love with a girl he has never met. But things are not always as they seem.

'On Monday She Travelled to India' won the Sweek GoExplore short story competition and was a finalist in the 'Most Addictive Story' category of the 2017 Sweekstars competition. At 3000 words, this ten-minute read is great for those down times while waiting for a bus.

REVIEW of 'On Monday she Travelled to India': Alanah, thank you. Thank you, deeply. I find myself crying as I linger over your last words, willing them to continue but grateful for the space they leave, too. The delicate poignancy that lives in the words that come through you has the power to open and transform some of the pain that hides buried in the heart. This story touched me, for its personal relevance and for its ability to reshape and reclaim hope. Absolutely beautiful.
