吴佩孚，亮相《时代》杂志封面的第一个中国人。1898年投淮军，后颇得曹锟器重。曾镇压蔡锷领导的云南护国军，讨伐张勋复辟。不纳妾、不留洋、不入租借，绝不与日本人同流合污。

Wu Peifu was the first Chinese man appearing on the cover of Time magazine. In 1898, he joined the Huai army, and then was regarded highly by Cao Kun. He suppressed Yunnan National Protection Army under the lead of Cao E, and sent armed forces to suppress Zhang Xun's restoration. He never took any concubine, nerve studied abroad, and never entered into the leased territory, never associated with Japanese.
