This WHATT theme issue is dedicated to the Amazon in South America, an amazingly unique tourist destination in the World.The issue is one of the key outcomes of an array of activities organized by the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO) to coincide with Destination Amazonia Year 2009 – teams comprising representatives from government, private sector and academia collaborated to produce an article on the ways in which tourism influences rainforest conservation in their particular country.
