Multiple sclerosis is a demyelinating disease in which the insulating covers of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord are damaged.
Trigeminal neuralgia involves loss of the myelin around the trigeminal nerve.
Myelin is a phospholipid membrane that wraps around axons to provide them with insulation. It is produced by Schwann cells in the PNS, and by oligodendrocytes in the CNS.
Intralipid treatment is first suggested in the medical literature as a way for myelin sheath repair in multiple sclerosis and trigeminal neuralgia.
