Andre Kertesz was a pioneer of nude photography. Arriving in Paris in 1925, he roamed the streets searching for spontaneous photographs of Parisians. Originally from Budapest, he enjoyed considerable commercial success in France, especially following his one-man show in 1927. In 1936 he was extended an invitation to come to the New York City. He found a home in Manhattan and lived there for the rest of his life, until his death in 1985. Andre and his wife had hoped to return to Paris but World War II intervened in 1939. My e-book looks at his work from the perspective of various collections of his photographs published in volume form.
