The name of the book has something in common with the name of a piano cycle Visions fugitives written by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev. The title of the cycle was derived from Konstantin Balmonts poem, and one line was taken as epigraph: In every fugitive vision I see worlds, full of the changing play of rainbow hues As the author of the book notices, the musicians life, being sifted through time sieve, often leaves in memory something fleeting, transient, fugitive.
