2006年的春天,作为"从洛桑到北京"国际纤维艺术双年展的策展人,我受廖开教授之邀到昆明与云南艺术学院师生进行纤维艺术专业交流。也正是因有交流才有了解有共识,化雨老师也正是在那个时候欣然接受了纤维艺术,并很快成为清华大学访问学者。虽说10年已经过去了,至今仍让人难忘的是她在清华大学美术学院纤维艺术实验室里与传统工艺技术的朝夕相处,和当代艺术设计的共联互通的身影。化雨老师第一次走进清华园时,正值美院新教学楼刚刚落成,工艺美术学科的金工、漆艺、首饰、玻璃、纤维等各实验室,都以新的空间、新的设备、新的氛围呈现出与中央工艺美术学院时期有所不同的发展势头。(In the spring of 2006, as the planner of "From Lausanne to Beijing" International Fiber Art Biennale, I was invited by Professor Liao Kai to communicate with students and teachers of Yunnan Arts University on fiber art.The communication leads to the mutual understanding and consensus. Wu Huayu accepted the fiber art and became the visiting scholar of Tsinghua University.Although ten years have passed, I still remembered the time when she was working on traditional and modern art designs in Fiber Art Laboratory of Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University.It is the time of completion of new building of the academy when she firstly entered Tsinghua University. The metalworking, lacquer art, jewlery, glass and fiber laboratories showed a different appearance and development momentum from the past with their new spaces and devices.)
