Reverend Jim Donovan escaped his troublesome past as well as the care of the evil Dr. Pere and moved with his family to the peaceful town of Paradise, South Carolina. Jim considers Paradise to be a fresh start. But although he feels happy with his marriage, his children, and his role as religious guide, he still finds himself drawn to the seductive Widow Chievers.
