The Saggi, an alien species recreated by the Rhesus and the Baroque are an efficient killing machine. They predominantly feed on humanoids and have been set loose on unsuspecting planets in various galaxies. The Andromeda crew have already had experiences with this alien species and are determined to stop them if possible. Also in their sector is the Rhesus warlord Sett. His main aim to kill the commanding officer of the Andromeda with anything at his disposal. His plan is to infiltrate the Andromeda and use its crew to ensure his success. Whilst in pursuit of the Saggi the Andromeda encounters a black hole. Trying to evade it they rip a tear in the space time continuum and are pulled into an alternate universe. What they encounter is similarities but more hidden dangers. They need to get back to their own universe but it's going to take time. On board their ship is Sett. More problems arrive when they land on Earth's twin - the planet Solaris.
