Stefan Zweig: Schachnovelle Stefan Zweig wurde 1881 in Wien geboren. Er starb 1942 in Petrópolis, Brasilien. Schachnovelle (1941) ist Zweigs letztes und bekanntestes Werk und erzählt von den Überlebensstrategien eines Häftlings der Gestapo im 2. Weltkrieg. Das Schachspiel dient dem Autor als Metapher des Lebens. Ein Höhepunkt novellistischer Sprachkunst.
