Seminar paper from the year 2015 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: -, University of Tubingen, language: English, abstract: Multinational corporations are perceived as multilingual organizations. Therefore every multinational corporation has to deal with language barriers. In this paper, the author aims to show what problems arise and what management can undertake in order to alleviate these problems. In order to do so, the author first reviews the current state of literature and then discusses the results of previous studies about the influence of language barriers on knowledge exchange within the network of the multinational corporation. The most striking solution is to adapt a common corporate language. Alternatives are mostly related to the management of human resources such as language-sensitive recruitment, staff movement, and language training. Besides, translation and the adjustment of the communication method are potential solutions.
