And, Shuo Wen Jie Zi Zhu Jian is notes written by Xu Hao, litterateur in the Qing Dynasty, for Annotation on Shuo Wen Jie Zi authored by Duan YUcai, one of the four great masters of Shuo Wen, with the aim to make for deficiency of Annotation on Shuo Wen Jie Zi and elucidate its intention. Xu Hao could be described as a friend of Duan who will give forthright admonition and a writer unique in the field of “literature of Shuo” studies. In consideration of the special status of this book in research field, A Study on Shuo Wen Jie Zi Zhu Jian illuminates the academic origins and research value of Xu Hao’s Shuo Wen Jie Zi Zhu Jian by citing a great deal of literature and datum; discusses the writing style of this book based on specific analysis of the author Xu Hao and his writing background; achieves an overall view of the style and content of the whole book by reference to related principles of system methodology; and further highlights the great achievements made by Xu Hao in the process of writing notes to Annotation on Shuo Wen Jie Zi and their influence from three aspects of text, phonology and exegesis.
