Clearing out her mother Elena's art studio, after her death, Kal finds a drawer packed with postcards all from one woman, Susannah Gillepsie. On impulse, Kal sets off with her toddler, Finn, in tow, desperate to find out more. Once she arrives at Susannah's isolated home, Kal quickly realizes she has made a big mistake. Susannah refuses to talk about her friendship with Elena and her behaviour grows more and more erratic.
