Texas Criminal Codes & Rules has been updated to address legal issues commonly encountered by lawyers and judges in the daily practice of criminal law. The case annotations are focused in areas most commonly referenced by practitioners. Over 90 annotations have been added to this edition and many more updated to provide a practical, contextual understanding of particular case holdings.

This edition also includes the Glossary of Spanish Legal Terms for Criminal Practice. Increasingly, businesses and services are changing to address the needs of Spanish speakers. Practitioners well-versed in Spanish will have an advantage in all areas of legal practice, including criminal justice. This glossary was designed specifically for Texas criminal practice and contains over 370 Spanish and English legal terms. The controlled substances index was developed to assist in locating both the applicable penalty group and the pertinent Health and Safety Code section. The Schedules of Controlled Substances have been included in this volume as various offenses within the Health and Safety Code require reference to these schedules. In addition, a controlled substances penalty range chart lists applicable punishment ranges for the penalty groups and for marihuana possession and delivery offenses. This chart also lists commonly charged substances within the various penalty groups.
