Many prominent crime figures rose to fame during the 1960s and 1970s in New York. The city itself was a fertile ground for drug dealers and mafia bosses who aimed to control poorer parts and neighborhoods. One of them was Frank Lucas who reached a legendary status when he reinvented the drug trade in the United States by smuggling the goods straight from the source. The drugs he sold were pure and he used the Vietnam War situation to his advantage.
Frank Lucas was an eccentric drug trafficker who led an intriguing life, but his kingdom didn’t last for too long and he was soon placed behind the bars. He did change himself later in his life and became a law-abiding citizen. His wild adventures inspired the movie called American Gangster which was a huge box office success in 2007.
