Die Arbeit entwickelt auf der Basis eines strukturalistisch-kommunikationstheoretischen Dramenmodells und der Affektenlehren der Rhetorik eine Methode zur Emotionsanalyse im Drama. Der historische Teil untersucht das Verhältnis von Neid und Intrige im Drama zwischen 1750 und 1800 anhand von rund 50 kanonischen und populären Dramen.
