Joseph Feola was a prominent figure in the Westchester County, New York waste disposal industry. Beginning in March 1965 FBI surveillance revealed that this Gambino family soldier's life was endangered. Secret tapes disclose furtive conversations among DeCavalcante family members. These, sometimes nearly inaudible tapes, feature the crime organization's chieftain,"Sam the Plumber" DeCavalcante. Sam and his minions were wary that the DeCavalcante organization was being overlooked. They were worried that a potential garbage deal with the Gambino family would slight them. "Joey Surprise" Feola was at the center of the waste disposal controversy.
