This Edition
Before His ascension, Jesus made a promise to His disciples – the promise of The Holy Spirit. Much earlier, He had said: “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them." By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.” (John 7:38-39 NIV).
This study looks at the fulfillment of this promise in the lives and ministry of the disciples, and the implications for the Christian today. It will lead your group through relevant Scriptures to understand some of the thorny and sometimes divisive issues as regards the ministry of The Holy Spirit. No attempt is made to parry any question. However, we warn that for maximum benefit, you must be prepared for possible scriptural challenges to long-held notions. Indeed, this disposition (being open to challenge) is key to the Christian’s spiritual growth.
