This diplomatic trilogy (333, 300 and 396 pages) conveys the frank stories of South African diplomats from the 1960s to the 1990s. Volume 3 covers relations with countries in Europe and the USA as well as matters such as the UN, nuclear issues, unconventional (secret) diplomacy and sanctions, the 'total onslaught' doctrine, and so forth. It ends with a chapter on the negotiations and transformation towards a democratic dispensation. It contains reminiscences and information which has been largely unknown to the general public and researchers.
