Shri Ranchhoddasji Maharaj Gurudev motivated his followers for voluntary service by organizing the first free eye camp at Chitrakoot in 1950. This camp could facilitate vision to 950 patients by cataract operations and show them the light of the world. Gurudev inspired and conducted numerous activities for the betterment of mankind at various locations in the country. The formal institution was established in 1968 and named Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust under the chairmanship of the late Shri Arvindbhai N. Mafatlal. Today the trust works in rural India in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Today the primary activity is eye care, and it is the largest NGO in the field of eradication of blindness.
