Preacher Joe Winters sees trouble ahead when Hank, a young man in his congregation, asks Winters to marry him and his pregnant girlfriend. Winters grows alarmed when he learns that Hank's girlfriend is a Negro. In Florida in 1961, interracial marriage isn't simply frowned upon - it is illegal.
