The story takes place in the end of the 19th century. A big family, the head of which is the local chieftain, experiences a fight of blood and fire as a result of internal strife. In the wake of this family war, a group of masculine and sturdy Kangba men gather together and form a merchant caravan to transport goods on the Tea and Horse Trade Route linking Sichuan and Tibet. These Kangba men show great chivalry throughout the treacherous journey. Besides, the story also offers great insight into the spirit of the Tibetans, their lifestyle and customs, tribal fighting, and the strong religious beliefs of the Tibetans, and so on.
