Cliff Allison was a talented race car driver from northern England. His career was cut extremely short by two devastating injuries at Monaco (1960) and Spa-Francorchamps (1961). The severity of his wounds end his tenure as a driver in 1961. Allison nearly scored Lotus' first Formula 1 triumph in the 1958 Belgian Grand Prix. He placed 4th but had the only healthy car at the end. F1 greats Sterling Moss and Mike Hawthorn placed ahead of him. However if the race had ended a lap later the outcome old have likely been different.
