אלג'יר הוא ספרו העשירי של רוני סומק. אלג'יר הוא ספרו העשירי של רוני סומק.רוני סומק (1951) יליד בגדאד, עיראק, בן למשפחת סומך. עלה ארצה ב-1953. גדל והתחנך במעברה על גבול חולון בת־ים ולאחר מכן בשיכון ליד צהלה. היה שחקן כדורסל בקבוצת הנוער של מכבי תל-אביב. התחיל לכתוב בגיל 16. במסגרת שירותו הצבאי עבד כמדריך חבורות רחוב בבית־שמש.
