The idea behind this collection of short essays is simply to introduce some basic points regarding autism to thegeneral public. Two of these articles contain materials that explain some of the difficulties in dealing with issuesin regards to children with autism; the rest focused on the Malaysian scene. Autism is not something whichmeans very much to many people, but the number of children with autistic difficulty is discovered to be largerthan what has been presumed in the past. At Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, efforts have been made throughthe Faculty of Education with the help of parents and the larger community. But there is more work to be done,especially in regards to more scientific knowledge on autism. There is an autism laboratory in Bandar BaruBangi in Selangor and the main issue at present is its small size and capacity. Through this charity effort 'Golffor Autism', we have taken steps that would help in developing greater interest in the subject of autismgenerally and in popularising some good practices within the community.
