There were two things seriously wrong when someone found Mr Meredith in the library of Ornum House and greeted him with a 'Good morning'. For one thing, it was five o'clock in the afternoon; and for another, the greeting took the form of a murderous blow to the back of poor Mr Meredith's head. But Inspector Sloan doesn't discover any of this until he finds the weapon, a large primitive club, topped with an iron spike. It is hanging in Lord Ornum's armoury, labelled 'Godentag' which, as the Vicar explains, taken literally means good morning...
Catherine Aird served as Chairman of the Crime Writers' Association from 1990 to 1991 and is the author of nineteen crime novels. In recognition of her work she was awarded an honorary MA from the University of Kent and was made an MBE for her services to the Girl Guide Association.
Robin Bailey appeared in numerous television plays and series including Drummonds, Bleak House and Charters and Caldicott. His extensive theatre credits included Beethoven's Tenth and Mrs Warren's Profession. He also recorded several Agatha Christie titles as audiobooks. Robin Bailey died in 1999.
