ISEF-2015 (the International Symposium on Electromagnetic Fields in Mechatronics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering) at the Technical University of Valencia (Spain), was the meeting point of researchers, engineers and designers interested in modelling, simulation, measurements and applications of electromagnetic fields. New emerging fields of research, i.e. bioelectromagnetism and biomedical problems, have been the subject of a special session, in addition to more classical topics. In this Special Issue, selected papers presented at ISEF-2015 will be published. The Special Issue aims to disseminate recent advances of electrical devices and microsystems: novel theoretical approaches, as well as practical applications. Topics of interest include a wide range of physical and chemical domains, electrostatics, mechanics, piezo-electrics, thermodynamics, electromagnetics, optics, and biomedicine. The collection of accepted papers, selected after a peer review procedure for this special issue of COMPEL, covers the main topics discussed at the conference.
