"Maus" by Art Spiegelman was first published as a serial between 1980 and 1991. It was finally published as a complete graphic novel. It was the first graphic novel to have won a Pulitzer Prize in 1992.

The novel presents the author interviewing his father, a Holocaust survivor, about his experiences as a Polish Jew during that period. The author has very skillfully employed certain postmodern techniques. Jews are presented as mice and German and Poles are presented as cats and pigs.
