This powerful fast moving blend of recent history with the fictitious adventures of a British spy caught up in the war between Russia and Georgia over semi-independent Abkhazia is a thriller full of danger and suspense. Much of the action takes place against a background of trekking in the wilderness of the Caucasus Mountains. After stumbling upon the horror of a mass grave for the victims of a massacre – ethnic cleansing by Separatist terrorists, the Britain is threatened with death by a local Chechen. The MI6 man escapes to Sukhumi, a town with severe damage from attacks earlier in the crisis, to find a world full of violence and fear of further atrocities. The conflict escalates when Georgia invades and captures Sukhumi. The Chechen remains an ever present threat. Moreover, a Russian FSB (former KGB) agent is by no means certain whose side the Britain is on.
