The papers in this e-book were selected from papers presented at the International Conference of the German Association of Political Economy, October 2006. The first section gives insights on the functioning of active labor market programs from a microeconometric as well as from a macroeconometric perspective. The second section contains three papers investigating the labor market effects of labor market institutions and the third part presents a paper exploring the determinants of the self selection of migrants.
