Jay Florian Mitchell was a talented Long Island/New York City photographer from the 1920s until the 1950s. Much of his work is in the Nevada State Museum in Las Vegas. A talented portrait and children's photographer, Mitchell organized field trips in the New York metropolitan area beginning in the 1940s. Amateur photographers were accompanied by professional models to such scenic locales as Fire Island. News of the field trips was published in New York area newspapers.
