The Last Laugh: A Short Story About How Life Sucks.Like everyone, Erik Clag just wants to be happy. He's almost forty so he just needs one break – something to go right for a change. However, he's stuck in the monotonous ever turning circle of life. He works a dead-end job, with people he hates and for a boss he loathes, doing something a monkey can be trained for. There is hope though – it's time for his annual two-weeks holiday to Brighton. Somewhere to relax and not think about the day to day struggles. Not having to get up at 5:00 AM or listen to the constant clanking of the machines. But he receives the call – he has to work instead.Feeling lost and broken; he decides to do something which will hopefully change his life forever.Suddenly, because of one small piece of paper everything turns into a surreal dream – his whole world is turned upside down. He ignores the phone calls from work and jumps on a plane instead. However, we should be careful what we wish for. Everything doesn't always turn out the way we want it. Fate has a wicked sense of humour.
