Sadly, because so many boys and girls have been good this year, your children's elf is being conscripted into toy construction duty by Santa. Luckily, here to suppress high jinks from the high emotions of your children is The Fairy in the Air. Unlike the elf, it doesn't report bad behavior to Santa. It hangs in your house to hear the good things your children have done each day. Children report each good deed, kindness, or politeness to the fairy. As a counselor, I truly believe that putting the emphasis on positive behaviors rather than negative ones has more power to cause changes in the desired direction. Having one of these benevolent beings hanging in your house can change the focus and the mood as children prepare for the most overwhelming season of all.. Also available are kits for making your own fairy with directions for making either a boy or girl doll to hang. Each kit has a doll clothespin with hanger attached, and you can choose which color hair you want for it. Decorative ribbons, petals, feathers and other adornments will be in the kit, but you can also use any household items you'd like. The pictures in the book can give you ideas on ways to personalize your fairy.
