The idea for this ebook emerged from the increasingly frustrating observation that although the practice of international business (IB) overtly creates, maintains, and reifies the conditions of 'precarious' lives (Butler, 04), it is not often that scholars in business schools attempt to study, in any systematic or holistic manner, the situated realities of those lives. These precarious lives occupy silenced subjectivities and have been—and, indeed, continue to be—relegated to the periphery of IB discourses. As a partial attempt to redress this phenomenon, in this ebook we sought to consciously and purposefully bring the margin to the center by 'listening' to the subjugated voices implicated in IB practices (Ngugi, 1993).
