I often wonder that if complete chaos broke out across the nation, what would I do? Could I protect myself and would my daughter be safe? Watching my favorite shows like The Walking Dead I see the romanticized version of survival when on the next channel I see real people getting shot, cities on fire and destruction replacing peace. These stories are very real and unlike my favorite show, there is nothing romantic about it for me.I think about my daughter's life compared to my childhood thirty years ago, when violence and fear were not dominant factors in the lives of children. I think about my own future. I can't help but feel I have been hiding behind a false sense of security, trying to believe that my own little world is far removed from all of the chaos.
