Philip's forty year involvement in psychotherapy, first as a client, then as a student, volunteer and finally a therapist himself since 1990, leads him to see spirituality a bit differently. For him, he's going into the same basement as the minister or priest does, but perhaps through a different door and with a somewhat different tool bag. He has in common with them though, a sense of awe at the Souls he finds there and the beauty of helping them find themselves. It's often struck him, he says, how immeasurably deep our inner life goes and what a mystery who we really are is.
The book offers a trip through time to look over our how we developed our Spirituality and Religions and to show how we've been looking for answers since our very earliest days. It also gives thought to how we tried to answer our own questions, usually by setting someone else up to tell us the answers. These are deeply felt needs in us and Philip also points out how every so often, we need to create an updated story about why we are here. Perhaps it's happening now. A New Revelation.
