The articles included in this e-book of the International Journal of Sociology and Social Policy highlight the value of theorizing in practice - the making of meaning in social gerontology. It is envisaged that this e-book will contribute, in some way, to moving beyond the current state of affairs to show social theory and ageing for what it is: an important means of enhancing our understanding of social relations and older people as well as explanation of society which should be both challenging and challenged.
