Relive the history of the Roman Empire, from its origins to its downfall. The Roman Empire emerged from a revolution and reached its maximum splendor with exemplary emperors like Augustus, Trajan, and Hadrian. It also saw how, after several centuries, its foundations were fragmented into pieces as it was incapable of defending against continuous foreign invasions.

The Roman Empire began in the year 27 B.C. when a Roman general Octavian was named Augustus, the first emperor of Rome. The 200 year period that followed became know as Pax Romana, a time of peace and stability.

With Augustus on the throne it, the destiny of Western culture was determined through the consolidation of Roman values, which had been defended from the beginnings of the Republic.

Tiberius, Caligula, Nero, Trajan, Hadrian, and Marcus Aurelius are some of the names that gave maximum splendor to the Roman Empire.
