Ashes Tell No Secrets is based on events originating from early Colonial times and from a fateful leap-year morning in 1704 in a village known by Native Americans as Pocumtuc. The story fast-forwards to contemporary times and to descendants known as Samantha and Jake Roi.; who are connected by the blood, sins and betrayals of their ancestors. The ashes and remains of bygone battles like those at Bloody Brook and Deerfield give rise to embers that flame the fires of lust, greed and mystery. A mystery fueled by curses, hauntings and a myths which play out in the backdrop of the fertile fields and towns of the Connecticut River Valley. Curses, hauntings and myths whose origins can be traced back as early as the 1600s and to the Algonquian speaking Pocumtuc and Wampanoag tribes. Although the story is fictional, it is based on historical events that led to the settlement of the river valley. Events like brutal wars that resulted in the destruction of most of the Indian nations and put into play tensions that would fester and manifest themselves for decades throughout New England. An apparent curse follows Samantha and Jake Roi both descendants of the Puritans; a curse supposedly spoken by the great King Philip after the death of his wife and child. And a myth that suggests that lands once owned by the Wampanoag are haunted for 350 years; lands in an area called the Mackin Sand Bank; a sacred burial ground of the Pocumtuck that was taken illegally by the English. And the Old Albany Cemetery where spirits of souls who were brutally slaughtered one fateful leap-year morning in 1704 still haunt the area.

And from the ashes of villages and remains of humans of that era rises another fire in contemporary times. A fire flamed by lust, sin and betrayal that leads to the demise of the Roi and Davies families; descendants of those earlier people connected to the historic raids on Deerfield. Ashes and deaths rising from bygone battles; hard fought for land, wealth and power throughout the New England area; Ashes and deaths that fuel myths and curses both on the land and on the people; Ashes that tell no secrets. The fuels for this book are events that took place hundreds of years ago but are manipulated to fit the story-line; a mystery that is first solved by Samantha Roi and a murder that needs to be solved by Detective Milneck. A murder-mystery story that keeps one guessing. A murder-mystery whose clues become ashes that tell no secrets their story just disappears into the air.
