Great Scenes from Great Plays offered some of the finest performers of the 20th century in adaptations of some of the best plays ever to be presented. Hosted by veteran actor/producer Walter Hampden, the series drew upon the many stars then appearing in plays along with Great White Way. Despite attracting top names, however, the series did not succeed in gaining a sponsor and was cancelled after just one well-receieved season.
